Environmental Testing includes taking sample readings of temperature, humidity, and airborne particulate levels, especially Zinc Whiskers, within the Data Centre. This sampling provides a snap shot of the conditions within the mission critical facility at the time of sampling and will help to identify any immediate risks.

Zinc Whisker Remediation
  • Zinc Whiskers are small fibre like growths that can be found on zinc-plated products.
  • Zinc is often used as a coating to prevent rust or oxidation. In a Data Centre, steel floor tiles are often coated with zinc.
  • Over time, the zinc plating on the steel will "grow whiskers," and when these whiskers dislodge from the tiles, and land on the equipment it will cause short circuits, voltage variances, and even equipment failures.
  • We identify, contain and deep clean these contaminants. See the White Paper on the Resources page for further information.
Particle Counts
  • Machine Room environments must follow the ISO 14644-1 Clean Room Standards.
  • Machine Rooms should to be at Class 7 or above.
  • We provide particle counts to understand the level of contamination in your Data Centre and then provide a Deep Clean to ensure Class 7 is attained.
FACT: The largest contaminators in a Data Centre? Ceiling tiles? Packaging materials? No. Humans: hair, clothing fabrics, contamination from shoes are all the largest source of contamination in a Data Centre.
